Xoma AB: Xoma Reports Strong Water Test Results at Boliden Rönnskär - Negotiations on Next Steps Initiated
Xoma AB is now able to present the results from initial water samples taken at Boliden's facility in Rönnskär. The tests demonstrate that Xoma's microalgae-based purification technology, FLOW, effectively reduces the concentrations of several heavy metals in process water. Particularly promising is the reduction of arsenic, which is typically very difficult to remove.
The analyses were carried out and validated by Umeå University and show the following removal efficiencies:
These results confirm FLOW's capability to purify even the most challenging heavy metals and highlight its potential to contribute to a circular and biological water treatment system - aligned with the industry's stringent environmental standards.
Xoma AB and Boliden are now in negotiations to proceed to the next phase of the process. The goal is to reach an agreement within three months, which would enable deeper collaboration on a future pilot facility.
"We at Xoma are very pleased with the strong results from the water samples at Boliden Rönnskär. Over the next three months, we hope to announce the next step in this important project," says Isac Andersson, CEO of Xoma AB.
